One man's confession.
One woman's resurrection.
When Clara Meier inherits her aunt’s old apartment in Zurich, 1973, she expects creaky floorboards and dusty memories. Instead, she uncovers a sealed box of centuries-old letters - a clergyman’s secret confessions, never meant to be read. They speak of Agatha Studler, a woman accused of witchcraft, and a trial steeped in guilt, shame, and quiet complicity.
As Clara pieces together Agatha’s forgotten story, unsettling parallels emerge between the woman’s 17th-century persecution and Clara’s own stifled existence in a male-dominated academic world. When her attempt to bring Agatha’s name to light is dismissed by her conservative supervisor, Clara must decide: stay silent, or risk everything to speak.
Blending historical fiction, feminist reckoning, and archival mystery, In Agatha’s Name is a haunting tribute to the stories patriarchy tried to erase — and the women who unearth them.
Perfect for readers of feminist historical fiction, witch trial narratives, and anyone who believes the past still speaks.
Meet the Authors
ALETHEA LAWTON

Alethea Lawton is an author, reads your cards, produces music and creates an abundance of crafts.
She studied Modern History at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford. As a child, she loved escaping into the world of Narnia and other fantastical realms. This nurtured an ambition to write books set in the real world but with a magical twist. A born creative, she has been a freelance writer for over a decade and has ghostwritten so many books she’s lost track. She has also published many books in her own right under various pseudonyms, both fiction and nonfiction.
This is her first historical story. In Agatha’s Name is an introduction to the story of Agatha Studler, a wealthy citizen of Zurich who was drowned for witchcraft.
Alethea is currently cowriting The Richest Citizen of Zurich - a full-length novel based on Agatha's life which aims to put the record straight about what really happened – or at least as much as is possible given the existing evidence.
Alethea lives in South Wales with her husband, what remaining children haven’t yet flown the nest, and copious animals. She writes to the twittering of two very noisy budgies. In 2024, she suffered a stroke, which gave her the drive to start creating more books she felt passionately about.
NADINE BDIL

Nadine Bdil is an author, creator, loves word magic and inspires many clients with her creativity through her company InspireWorks GmbH.
Nadine has won multiple international awards, and holds an MA in Non-Profit Organizations Management. She supports entrepreneurs in their personal, financial and entrepreneurial growth.
Characterised by a strong sense of justice and a desire to create prosperous lives for all, she has been advocating for equal opportunities for marginalized people her whole life and particularly for women who are ready to play their part.
Nadine trained with author and philosopher Bob Proctor and now inspires people to live in harmony with the universal laws of success.
When she learned about Agatha Studler, Nadine knew that her story needed to be told. Her story is every powerful woman’s story. With a feeling that the world is now open to listen, she was inspired to co-write a book about Agatha’s life that incorporated many of the economic principles she teaches – principles which Agatha probably followed, even if unintentionally.
This short story is her first work of fiction. She is excited at releasing a full-length book about Agatha, which she is currently working on. Nadine is married, the mother of three imaginative children and lives with her family in Zurich. She loves swimming in the lake, walking the dog and sharing her rich wealth of knowledge and experience.
